COVID-19 Reopenings at PVA

Pittsford Volunteer Ambulance is working hard to support the health of our community! As our community adapts to COVID-19 standards and restrictions, we at PVA are taking steps to resume our normal community outreach and support services. Below are important updates on our services, and what you may expect when visiting our station.

Loan Closet Reopened

  • We continue to offer walkers, wheelchairs, crutches, and canes at no charge to the public
  • Disinfection and handling procedures remain in place, for all materials on return
    • Transfer of loaned materials using limited contact
  • Limited entry into our facilities at this time:
    • We appreciate your patience and understanding; our facilities still maintain restricted access for the safety of our responders and our community. If you need to enter our building for a loaned item, please come to the First Aid entrance in the rear area of our building. Prior to entry you will be asked to complete a brief health survey and have your temperature taken. Entry will not be permitted before the health screening, and entry beyond our first aid area is restricted to essential personnel only.
  • Low-contact equipment loans available at any door
  • Although we are not permitting entry from any door, you may ring any doorbell for assistance. We will greet you at our door, and will bring your requested item to you promptly
  • Curbside service available!
    • Park in front and call us: (585) 385-2401
    • If crewmembers are not on ambulance responses, they will bring your requested item directly to you, and will load the item into your car if desired

Blood Pressure Screenings Available

  • Report to the First Aid area
  • All visitors must complete a health screening prior to entry
  • Visitors may not proceed beyond our first aid area unless on official, approved business
  • Only one person admitted for screening at a time

CPR Classes Resuming Soon

  • All attendees must complete a health screening prior to entry into our facility
    • Must also wear a face covering and follow social-distancing guidance while participating in courses
  • Planning to begin classes for medical groups, community organizations within the next month
    • Will train ‘cohorted’ groups first; organizations of people who are currently working together on a regular basis
      • This limitation is established so as not to create or promote an environment where our training introduces community members into a new group setting
      • Reduce and mitigate risk for community spread
  • Planning to reinstate community training in Fall 2020, or as soon as safe for the community and our instructors
  • Courses include an AHA-approved, modified practical skills component, designed to reduce risk of cross-contamination during CPR skills practice

Walk-Up Emergency Service

  • We always recommend calling 911 in an emergency – our crews will respond promptly to your aid, at the site of out emergency
  • If you are experiencing an emergency and come to our station, ring any doorbell or press the emergency call button for assistance. Our crews will assist you to our ambulances for prompt assessment and care.

COVID-19 will continue to challenge us as individuals, and as a community, for the foreseeable future. Of necessity we may modify our outreach procedures and services, and will continue to update you through our website and Facebook page. Should you have questions about our emergency or community services, about our preparations for COVID-19, or other areas of interest, please call by phone or contact us via email. With skilled hands, cool heads, and caring hearts, we stand ready to help.
